52 card challenge - Week 17

This week was right up my street as Nat set a challenge to use up the scraps from a project to make a card. I had just finished a layout and the remains of a kit and had enough left to make this...

A friend at work turned 30 last week but I have not seen her yet to pass it on.  To go with the card I rustled up a little frame of butterflies...

Sorry for the rubbish photos - taken them on my phone for speed this morning!
A quick wizz round the house to tidy and dust and then we are off to see the wonderful Robert Downey Jr...

52 card challenge - week 4

The challenge this week from Nat was to...

Your challenge is to use paper from a paper pad on your card!

Now I only own one paper pad (I know, shocking!) and it is a very old Papermania one I was given as a gift.  At least it narrowed down the choice of paper and speeded up my card making!  The pad was Heather, pictured below;

And this was the card I made.  Yes, it's another Mother's Day card in January (see previous post! lol!).

You can catch all the challenges over at Kool Kitty Musings and there will be a new one today :)

52 card challenge - week 3

OK I know it's only Jamuary but last year I made and sold a lot of mother's day cards at work for charity so I thought I'd best get started on some stock to do the same this year!

Nat set the challenge this week around colour aasking us to use the pic below and base the card on two of the colours.

Well I kind of did that...except I think I used a few more!  I found some scraps to use up from another page done at Sarah's retreat and thought the colours matched so well that I made this...

I'm nearly keeping up with this challenge so off to work on week 4 now.  If you want to join in head on over to Nat's blog to see all the challenges.

Thank you for all your comments - I do love reading them and it is appreciated :)

52 card challenge - week 1

This year I am joining in with Nat's 52 card challenge.  I think I managed about 8 cards last year so am hoping to do a lot better!  The first challenge was;

Make a card featuring something new!
It could be any of the following:
  • New stash
  • A new arrival
  • An announcement of some wonderful news
  • A card for someone new in your life
  • A new home
The choice is yours!
I went with a new job - two ladies at my work do a fab job with all our administration and organising the managers but had been asked to take on Reception from the 7th January.  They were not looking forward to the challenge and the extra work so I made them a card to go with box of choccies I bought then to wish them luck!
So here is my card made with some lovely papers and products from my Gossamer Blue kit...

Need to play catch up already as I have not made last weeks card yet!  Yikes!!!

52 card challenge - week 6

So I am a teeny, weeny bit behind with this challenge (I think they are currently on week 18!) but I am determined to dip back in and make some more cards!

With what was left on my desk from the last two pages I just had enough to make this...

This was for week 6's challenge which was to use paper, hot pink and butterflies.

Hope you are all enjoying a lovely bank holiday weekend.  Today has been beautiful and sunny here but for me the weekend ends tonight as I am in work tomorrow :(

Hope the rain stays away!

52 card challenge

I mentioned a while back and wanted to make some cards and sell them at work to raise funds for charity.  The 52 card challenge over on UKS seemed like a good idea to help build up some more stock.  This week I caught up on the first three challenges and added four more cards to the basket :)

The first was challenge was;
  1. Theme = New (new beginnings, baby, home or simply using new stash - the choice is yours!)
  2. Circles
  3. Scallops
I used some new stash (well the last lot I bought for my recent lay out), some circles on the transparency and the spotty card and my scallop border punch.  I enjoyed this so much I made two cards!

Week 2 was "Primary, hand made embellishment and journalling spot".  For this I had nearly finished the card and then realised I needed a handmade embellishment!  I wanted to use some of my mountain of blossoms so as my sewing machine was on the desk I played around and stiched them together, adding a button and some bakers twine to finish off.

The theme for Week 3 was "bunting, banners, pennants and flags". I dug through my kits until I found some with bunting in and threw this card together :)

I've just noticed all these cards seem to have the same pattern of a line across the middle and a flower/rosette on the left.  Not sure how that's happened!! Thanks to Natty for a great challenge.  Check out her blog here for more amazing cards.
