Maroon 5, reunited and yet another page...

Had a couple of friends over on Thursday evening for a scrappy catch up. We hadn't seen each other in ages and I think I was chatting so much I just started chucking stuff at the page without reaching for a sketch first and this was the result!

The photo was taken in 1999 when we were on our first family holiday in The Trossachs, Scotland. I am really loving this kit from Sarah's Cards which was the October one with Crate Paper Restoration. Such pretty, colourful paper.

On Monday we headed off to the Apollo in Manchester to see Maroon 5 with some friends. They were, quite simply, amazing and I would recommend them to anyone. Played around with some hipstamatic pictures and I was quite pleased this one...

And this is a video I have "borrowed" from you tube of the amazing acoustic set of "She will be loved"
. We were standing right down the front and had a great view.

And finally the big news from the weekend was that I finally met up with my brother, after more years than I care to mention. The kids loved their new uncle and we took some snaps before he left to go back to London...

Challenges...

I am in challenge mode now I have finised off all my "unfinished" projects! The first one is for the monthly challenge on UK Scrappers which was to use the sktch and either fabric or fibres. I chose to dig out my fibres and used my October Sarah's Cards kit together with pictures from Suessland in Florida.

The next one is Shimelle's new class on Two Peas in a Bucket - 4 x 6 photo love. The first month uses 1 photo, the second 2 and so on until we get to December when it will be 12 photos on a page!

Here is my attempt at January's sketch;

The Dizzy Dots Challenge

This week my team, The Dizzy Dots have hosted the weekly challenge on UK Scrappers. It has been great fun to see everyone's interpretation of our challenge - there are so many talented ladies out there! The four elements were;

To use the sketch provided
To scrap a group photo (we all used the same photo from our retreat last November)
To include pink for Breast Cancer in honour of Dee who is battling this disease
To include some stitching in honour of Tara who we converted to stitching while we were away

Here is my lay out for the challenge which I did using an old Sarahs Cards kit from 2008...

I have also finished off a mini book this week by addding journalling and photos. The book was completed some tome ago and was a class from Sarah's cards' retreat last March taught by the lovely Cathy. I wasn't sure what to use it for but then struck on the idea of adding the photos from Alex's Year 6 leavers party as the colours matched perfectly...

I have a couple of days of work this week as it's half term here so hoping to be back with more completed pages!

Josh's week...

Josh has had a very good week. First of all he managed to aquire not one, not two but three badges at cubs last Friday evening - martial arts, animal carer and home safety. He then attended a "ready steady cook" afternoon and passed his Chef's badge on the Saturday. I helped out and we made some yummy biscuits and pizzas from scratch.

Then on Tuesday he had a special assembly for his class to demonstrate what they had learnt on a 6 week African drumming workshop. Check out these videos to see the performances. One of the best assemblies I've been too!

I'll be back with more scrapbooking posts tomorrow.

Another finished page...

Had a lovely day off yesterday, well almost lovely... after an emergency trip to the dentist and a pack of anti-biotics for a gum infection I settled down to finish off this class page from the Pink Booby Crop last October. I had messed up the cutting out of the frame and papers so had put it to one side and I wasn't happy with the photo I'd picked. So a quick change of picture and some clever cuts hidden by butterflies and it was finished. Thanks to UKS Coventry Ann for a great class :)

The journalling reads; Alex you are quietly confident, studious, helpful, content with your own company & talented. I am starting to see a glimpse of the young woman you will become.

In finishing off mode...

With the start of the New Year I have been in the mood to complete half finished projects and pages. Here are two that I can share with you tonight. The first is my Believe album which has a page for every visit to Father Christmas since the first one when Alex was 2. This was our trip in 2009 which is the last page in the book...and sadly I think our last one ever as nobody asked to go this year!

And here is the front of the finished album...

Next I added some journalling to a lo I did in the summer about the sweet shop by Grandma used to own as a young woman. I have scanned one of the bags from the shop and used it bottom left as an extra piece of detail. The kit was an old Sarah's Cards kit from 2009.

This week I have been finishing off two other projects which I will share soon.

Last night we went to the Academy in Manchester with some friends to see this fab band who put on a great performance. The first of four bands I have booked to see this year!
