Title help needed...

No, not the title itself (although I have been known to ponder this for days on some of my pages!) but how to do a title on the cheap.

I am planning on hosting a little scrap class for some friends as a fundraiser for Alex's international trip with Girlguiding UK this year. I have the page planned mostly using the items below and some bits from my stash and have kept the price down to a reasonable price. But the the title is causing me trouble...

I realise how easy it is to reach for thickers (my first love when it comes to titles) but this would wipe out any funds we might raise!

So I'm opening the suggestion box up to my friends in blog land. So far I've thought of stamping (but I don't own much in the way of large letters) and stitching. Anybody else out there got a great suggestion I could "borrow" that is cheap and easy to teach?

Answers on a post card please (or preferably in the comments section below!)

Thank you all!

How about doodling or hand cutting ... Maybe cut out letters using a font template, say in fabric to give texture

Something else I've seen, I know it was stamping but you could still do it buy drawing and hand cutting letters. But they piled letter on to off the same letter ... By that I mean, say cut 4 'L's and then lay them on top of each other using foam dots etc.

What about die-cutting - someone you know must own a Tim Holtz alphabet or some such thing? Cut it out in white and then customise with pencil, paint etc ...

My first thought was Stamping...instead why not print out a title, onto cardstock. A little like the project life cards we see, that they can incorporate onto the page. you might even find a suitable one on pinterest that you'd be able to print out x x good luck

I was going to suggest like Ali about die cutting a title. Shame you are not nearer to me as I have loads of alphabet dies. If you have access to a die cutter then funky foam (you can get large sheets in Hobbycraft) die cut looks really lovely and although a little thinner than the foam thickers is still a good look. At the monthly class I go to we frequently use foam to die cut our titles. Good luck with the fundraiser

I was also going to suggest die-cut letters or printing out titles. There are so many free fonts . . . maybe you could print out a list of them for your students and give each of them a sheet with the title printed in a variety of different fonts.
You might also be able to do mix-and-match alpha stickers for titles . . . it's a style!

I'd suggest doodling, though I see I am not the first! If you google, you'll find all kinds of ideas - even just looking at a font on one of the font sites and making a hand-done version is very effective. Good luck with it all and hope its a lot of fun :).
