Another 3 Challenges!

Well today I have managed another three of Shimelle's challenges from her online crop!

The first was the "Crop up your papers challenge" and to use your patterned paper to make the embellismentfor your page. I made this one with the August Kit from Sarah's Cards using Kaisercraft - Peachy Keen.

The next pages was for "A colour story challenge" and the brief was to create a project in red, white and aqua. I love these colours together and so I dived into another Sarah's Cards kit from March this year - October Afternoon's Modern Homemaker. I also combined this challenge with the weekly one over on UKS which had to use this sketch...

Plus a group of photos, a star and an H in the title.

The third challenge was one this afternoon entitled "3 is a magic number" in which we needed to group three embellishments. I've used the same kit here and I also decided to use 3 photos and catch up on my 4 x 6 photo love layouts as this is the sketch for March using 3 photos. There are 2 embellies above the journalling and 3 underneath the title.

Right off to seeif I can manage a 6th page this weekend!

Starting point challenge

The idea of this challenge was to start with the same basics - A large box of paper in the background, a wide vertical strip plus a narrow stripe and a horizontal block. Mine started off like this...

Then a photo, some jornalling and a few embellishments later it looked like this...

A close of of the embellishments which I made to co-ordinate.

This page is long overdue as I haven't recorded Joshua's favourties for a few years now. It's nice to look back on them and seehow much he's changed (or not!)

The first challenge...

OK So I'm a bit slow off the block but I am struggling with tonsilitis. However have spent a pleasant day pottering and making some pages.

This was the sketch from last night from Shimelle's online crop. There's lots of lovely give aways too!

I have used the January kit from Sarah's cards - Fancy Pants, Happy Together - and added some acrylic snowflakes and brads from my stash.

I'll be back later with more.

Shimelle's online scrapbook weekend is here!

Have finished work for the weekend and it's one where we have "not a lot" planned. The odd haircut and swimming lesson, oh and a quick trip to the vets for specialised cat litter (more on that another time!) So I am pleased to find Shimelle's online scrapbook weekend is happening now :).

You can find more details here and I'll be back later in the weekend with stuff I've made (I hope!) I've added my new Proud Scrapbooker pic to my blog and you can grab one there too.

Have a good weekend everyone!

Bring on the trumpets!

Last Tuesday we headed up to school for the evening to watch the summer concert. It was, as usual, a very civilised affair with everyone taking wine and nibbles to munch on while we enjoyed the show. The choir sang, their were solos and duets and then the orchestra played a few numbers.

This is Josh looking smart in his choir shirt and tie...

And singing his heart out...

And some photos of the boy and his trumpet below :) On the night and also playing at the Summer Fair the weekend before.

Today is the first proper day of the school holidays for us. Alex broke up a week ago but Josh broke up this Friday and I finished work for a few days too.

Hope you enjoy your August whatever you are up to!

UKS weekly challenge

Managed to find some time to fit in a bit of scrapping inbetween all the over time, running around after the kids and birthday celebrations (more on that in another post).

The challenge over on UKS this week was to use one photo, use circles, doodle and use brads. Had a delivery from photobox lasdt week and in it was this photo of Alex from 8 years ago. Used March's Sarahs Cards Kit - October Afternoon, Modern Homemaker.

M is for Machine stitching

The June challenge over on the Scrapology blog was to use the sketch below and to add machine stitiching as part of the layout. I used another old Sarahs Cards Kit (yes, yet another!) and some photos from our holiday in Northumbria in 2008. The Treehouse at Alnwick was amazing and we had a lovely lunch before visiting the gardens. I have machine stitched around the photo, along the borders and stitched a swirl on the round photo mat.

This challenge finishes tomorrow but you could play along with July's challenge here.
