Schools out!

I know it's not really - we've only just gone back! But the UKS Weekly Challenge this week was to scrap around a school thing...

The challenge was to use the sketch below, two colours (plus black and white) and an embellishment that reminded you of your favourite thing about school.

I chose to scrap with blue and yellow on top of the black and...Er,hum... cream (well it's almost white!). I then used hearts as my embellishment to symbolise the friendships you make at school. This is backed up by the photo which is Alex (on the left) and all her friends on the roundabout last summer after they left primary school for the last time. If oyu look closely they all have their signed shirts on!

I "heart" Kirsty!!

Yesterday I spent a lovely day in Manchester with the rather lovely and very talented Kirsty Wiseman to learn how to use my DSLR properly and leave the automatic button behind me!

There were five of us on the course all together - you can see us all on Kirsty's blog here and here are some of the shots I took throughout the day...

The Manchester Eye

This fabulous wall was full of post-it notes which covered a whole wall in the Arndale Centre. It was started off by one man who decided to show the looters and rioters that he loved this city and hundreds have joined him :)

Practicing focusing and recomposing the shot...

Continuity...with the musical railings around Cheethams School of Music

Slowing down the water...

And finally a very flattering shot of me taken by Kirsty...

I am so glad I took this course - it's all fallen into place and there will be no more green button for me!

Thanks Kirsty for a lovely day :)

Like mother like daughter...

Just wanted to share these two pages that Alex made over the last couple of weeks. She had some papers but only a few embellishmnents so I let her loose on my stash (well almost!) and she has created two lovely pages based on a page by Shimelle.

Very proud of her talents - she must take after me lol!

UKS Weekly Challenge

I did the weekly challenge today which was set by the lovely Fiona and her team on UKS.

This was the sketch we had to use...

Secondly scrap on the theme of holidays.

Finally use blooms or butterflies (or both) on your page.

I have had these photos to scrap for ages but wasn't sure how to do it. They are not the best photos I've ever taken but they tell a story which is what scrap booking is all about for me. I had Sarah's Cards February kit sitting unused and staring at me and thought this sheet of Glitz Designs Love Nest Floral went well with Alex's fleece. I moved the journalling area so as not to cover up the pink rose at the bottom.

The photos were taken whilst on holiday at my parent's on a visit to Windsor. The journalling reads...You giggled so much when we parked in this car park. It's not often we come across your name. There has been a florist, a hospital and a road in Warrington but the car park was the funniest. I'm glad we chose such an unusual name for you.

Thanks for a great challenge ladies :)

The Great Lego Build Autumn 2011

Last night Tony decided he would make a Lego dinosaur, a mammoth to be precise! However there were some pieces missing from the box so then he looked in another kit for them and found that one all muddled up, then we all get involved and realised that all the kits were a complete mess. So somone (namely me!) had the bright idea of sorting all the kits out into colours and putting them back together again! So at the end of a couple of hours of sorting this is what we were left with...

Somewhere amongst that lot is Jabba's sailbarge, Indiana Jones plane, a couple of star wars fighters, Endor, some Atlantic sets and the aforementioned mammoth!! This looks like it may be an ongoing project over a few weeks (or even months!) I'll be back to post completed models if and when they are done!

4 x 6 Photo Love - July

So the challenge this month was to use 7 (yes 7!) 6x4 photos on one page. Once again Shimelle came up with an ingenious way of doing this and including the journalling too!

I have done this page using photos from our trip to London in April and using the September kit from Sarah's Cards with Jillybean Soup - Old World Cabbage papers. The extra photos are on a pull out folding card attached to the page so when it's closed it looks like a two photo lay out.

Looking forward to seeing what August's challenge is when we will be scrapping 8 photos!

Thanks for stopping by.
