The most Christmassy bit was the "Deck the halls" sticker from Simple Stories but this fitted the theme perfectly so had to be used! The papers are old ones in my stash from Lily Bee Designs and Simple Stories, I think.

So in my post I thought I'd share a page that used some Christmas product but where the theme was not overly Christmas. The photos are from our visit to the Harry Potter studios last December where the great hall was decked out in all its Christmas glory. However I didn't want to go overboard with Christmas themed products as this is just one of many pages I'm scrapping about the visit and the others do not have any festive orientation what so ever! If I used too much Christmas product it would look very out of place.
So my solution was to use some festive product but mix it with non-festive to get the balance right and I was really pleased with the result. I started with a sketch from Stuck! Sketches. I don't have a lot of spare time to scrap so a sketch always gets me started quickly...

I added some red tickets, an ornate transparency to ground my title (which I've had for years!) and some tiny wooden stars that were all neutral embellishments. Then I used some American Craft "Frosty accents" reindeer rub ons which reminded me of Harry's stag patronus!

Fab pages, I love the HP photos...and I hadn't thought of scrapping Christmas without Christmas papers...so thank you for the inspiration :)
Wonderful LOs! I am a cardmaker, not a scrapper, but I like sketches for the same reason you mentioned. They always help me get a jumpstart. I really like your first page where the papers are not overly Christmasy.....but with the very decorated subject, you never notice the toned down papers. Great idea!

Love how the papers work with the photos....I often use non-christmas papers with christmas photos.
I so love your page! The sketch is great to follow and it looks like it will fit easily in your album with the other photos of the visit to the Harry Potter Studios. I visited the place in March 2014, but seeing the festive hall really make me wanna go back during December again!
Great inspiration to use non traditional paper. I always like using a sketch too.
You've really taken that sketch and run with it - your page really does the experience and photos justice with all that colour and bright sparkle. I like the softer look too - I'm one for non-traditional myself :).
Great LO, you have managed to get the perfect non/Christmassy balance. The photos are so busy with Christmas that you didn't need the papers to add any more. You have really done the photos justice.

The Great Hall must have looked absolutely amazing..what a fabulous subject to scrap. I'm a big fan of pages which aren't too themey: this is right up my street :)
Using them the opposite to usual has worked so well
